Why We Do It
At Careers United, we understand that many houseless people feel like there is no support or grace for them. And to a certain degree, that's true. The government and local communities are only able to help so much.
We learned through speaking with caseworkers that a lot of houseless people are in dire need of support in more social-based aspects rather than physical needs. We learned that many feel directionless and lost when it comes to finding a job and many don't know where to start in the job search process. On top of that, if someone was disabled or formerly incarcerated, that can add to feelings of dejection and depression.
What We Want To Accomplish
We aim to show participants that they are not alone in feeling anxiety about entering the workforce. We want them to know that just because they have experienced hardship in their lives, it does not make them unworthy of support. Careers United aims to be a non-judgmental space where people from all walks of life can come together and work with our team to learn about the workforce and feel confident in themselves when it comes to their future.
